Over 50 years ago, in 1964, Margaret Jean and Rink Achatz opened up their first restaurant in Davison, MI. In 1969, Rink purchased his dream location on the St. Clair River in Algonac, MI. Rink operated the restaurant for a short time before unexpectedly passing away. Thus, leaving Margaret and her 8 children to take over, successfully, from 1970 to 2013. She specialized in high quality, homemade meals, and most importantly, freshly ground hamburgers, locally known as the best around. Russell created Achatz Burgers emphasizing his love of burgers, which he inherited from his father. Throughout 13 years in Macomb and St. Clair Shores, Russell has created and simplified a process to serve the best tasting burgers in America. Not only has Achatz burgers won every burger competition they've ever entered, they have also been a favorite of the Detroit Tigers for nine years. Russell has moved back to his hometown of Algonac, MI where it all began. He and his team are committed to serving the community in a drive-through location that is that makes fast food healthier. Achatz Burgers is back, faster, simpler, and more delicious than ever!
